RENOVATION APPEAL

Kanchipuram, popularly known as "Kanchi" is one of the ancient pilgrim centres of south india famous for its lovely magnificient temples. It is considered to be one of the sacred seven mukthir kshetra. Poet Sri Kalidasa has praised kanchi as the most significant city in all aspects as "nagareshu kanchi". The city of temples is mentioned and glorified in the puranas as Sathyavratha kshetra and it is said that all austerities performed in this punya kshetra will bear fruits in plenty. Sri kanchi kshetra is worshipped as one of the panchabootha linga kshetra as pruthivi kshetra. All the four reputed tamil saivita saints Thirugnana Sambandhar, Appar, Sundarar and Manikkavasagar, the four divine saint singers - naalvar have sung in praise of the glory of Lord Sri Ekambaranathar and Kanchipuram is worshipped for ages as one of the most sacred kshetra of Saivagamam.

Sri Ekambaranathar temple which is a very ancient sacred temple of worship is also considered as a big treasure of art and architecture, attracting large number of pilgrims from all over the world. This ancient temple of Sri Ekambaranathar needs extensive repairs and renovations as total renovation has not been done for over hundered years, though some parts of the temple have occasionally been renovated.

Now,the gigantic task of renovating the key portions of this ancient sacred temple of international pilgrims repute, temple of LORD EKAMBARANATHAR is to be taken up under a total estimated cost of rupees two crores. This major task of renovation work would be possible with the valuable esteemed contribution and kind co-operation from noble minded devotees and the general public.

We appeal to the generous public, large minded philanthrophist and Noble devotees to kindly come forward to join in the sacred service to Lord sri ekambaranathar temple and be the recipent of the benign vlessings of the divine drace of Lord sri ekambaranathar.

The area of ekambaranathar temple is about 23 area of land. There ara five praharams situated in this beg temple.

All contribution for this sacred cause and exempt under 80G of income tax Act.

The repair and renovation works connected with the following are being carried out in the Ekambareswarar Temple with financial assistance from the Government of Tamil Nadu:

Work Involved:

Removal of bushes from the premises, cleaning work, repair of the stone flooring, repair of the roof, construction of the mandapam on the roof and the connected structures.

Estimated cost:

The cost for the above repair, renovation work is Rs 1 crore.
